In addition, to mark the availability of this option, APconnections is offering a 50-percent discount on NAC module pricing through the end of October with the purchase of any new NetEqualizer (http://www.netequalizer.com).
“We’re excited to offer the option to do authentication with Radius servers,” said Art Reisman, co-founder and CEO of APconnections. “As a special-feature improvement available with our existing network access control (NAC) module, the authentication will be both effective as well as simple to use.”
Users of the authentication option will need an existing Radius server along with details from their customers including the speed of their connection and the duration of their service. The NetEqualizer will sit between users and the core network/Internet connection.
When the NetEqualizer sees access requests to the network coming in, it will authenticate with the Radius server in one of several ways — MAC address, IP address, or username and password. If for some reason the user does not authenticate, they will be sent to a Web page of the network administrator’s choosing or design for further information about obtaining network access.
The NetEqualizer is a plug-and-play bandwidth control and WAN/Internet optimization appliance that is flexible and scalable. When the network is congested, NetEqualizer’s unique “behavior shaping” technology gives priority to latency-sensitive applications, such as VoIP and email. It does it all dynamically and automatically, improving on other bandwidth shaping technology available. It controls network flow for the best WAN optimization.
APconnections is a privately held company founded in 2003 and is based in Lafayette, Colorado (http://www.netequalizer.com).
