New York, NY, April 28, 2009 — What do the Editor-In-Chief of GOTHAM magazine, a Corcoran Group SVP, a neurosurgeon, and an ABC NEWS “20/20″ correspondent have in common?

Ms. Cuomo, Ms. Schlisser, Dr. Firlik, and Ms. Roberts are all scheduled to speak at an innovative, new summer program for middle school-age girls in Manhattan, called The WonderGirls(TM).

They will be joined by ELLE magazine Editor and Fashion News Director Anne Slowey; Morgan Stanley VP Isabelle Halphen; jewelry designer Danna Weiss; ABC-TV feature reporter Lauren Glassberg; fine artist Susan Vecsey; film maker Tracey Hecht; marketing executive for The Gap, Jaimie Gersh; author Jenny Han; graphic artist Amiel Gerver; nutritionist Danielle Schupps; Tribeca Treats’ Rachel Thebault; Physique 57 CEO Jennifer Maanavi; veterinarian Bonnie Brown; photographer Rebecca Weiss; and Laurie K. Oestreich LCSW.

The WonderGirls(TM) will be held June 15-18, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the arts and entertainment center, the 92Y TRIBECA, at 200 Hudson Street, near Canal Street.

Designed exclusively for girls ages 11-14, The WonderGirls(TM) will give tween girls the opportunity to meet and interact with dynamic women from different walks of life. These exceptional women will encourage the girls to dream big, develop their problem-solving skills and widen their perspectives. “This is about inspiring girls to take risks and gain valuable insights into themselves,” comments the program’s founder, Lisa Bochner.

Each day will feature a morning speaker and two workshops, allowing the girls to explore their particular interests. The workshops will include engaging presentations, creative projects and brainstorming sessions. They will be led by remarkable women from various fields who will share stories of the twists and turns their professional paths have taken. Many of the women are entrepreneurs. Others are from corporate America. All are accomplished leaders in their professions. “I wish there had been something like this when I was 12!” says neurosurgeon and author Dr. Firlik, who echoes the sentiments expressed by many.

Each afternoon will conclude with 30 minutes of instructed yoga, except the last day, when spokesmodel Emme will address the group. “This is a program like no other in Manhattan - the response from speakers, parents and girls has been fantastic,” notes co-founder and teacher Rachel Sztul.

Registration forms and a frequently updated list of speakers are located at http://www.thewondergirls.org. The cost of the four-day program is $600. Press inquiries should be directed to the program’s founder, Lisa R. Bochner.
