Understanding Options Gives Global NES Clients an Advantage

Global NES, Inc.

Wheat Ridge, Colorado, February 3, 2011Global NES, Inc., has long understood that Renewable Energy Credits and Carbon Offsets may play an important role in achieving an integrated and strategic energy program. Now Global NES has developed a program with affiliate support that provides clients with the necessary information to make an informed decision regarding these misunderstood factors in energy use. Consumers can now find a page on the Global NES website that gives a simple explanation of what RECs and Carbon Offsets are and how they may apply.

Carbon Offsets are a financial instrument aimed at a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Activities such as driving, flying, heating/cooling buildings and running equipment are responsible for the creation of greenhouse gases. These emissions are translated into Carbon Dioxide equivalent emissions generated by the burning of fossil fuels, power used from the grid, business travel and waste. This is called a carbon footprint. The carbon footprint is used as a basis for the number of carbon credits necessary to offset the emissions impact and make a business Carbon Neutral. Individuals, companies or governments purchase carbon offsets to mitigate their own greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, electricity use and other energy sources. Companies, governments or other entities also buy carbon offsets in order to comply with the caps on the total amount of Carbon Dioxide they are allowed to emit.

Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) are tradable energy commodities. Each REC represents 1 megawatt hour of electricity created from a renewable source, such as wind. The REC market allows power generators to sell the “marketing rights” of any renewable energy source to individuals or businesses that want to support or promote the use of renewable energy. As part of the Global NES 360 Degree Approach for delivering comprehensive energy solutions, they help Clients understand and take advantage of Renewable Energy Credits and Carbon Offsets. Through a strategic partner alliance, they work with Clients and businesses to reduce their carbon footprint and emissions impact on the environment.

These specialized services include:

Carbon Footprint Auditing

Product Life Cycle Assessment

These uniquely designed programs help businesses measure, reduce or completely offset their Carbon Dioxide emissions. Global NES offers businesses a unique and tangible way to market and communicate their commitment to reducing their impact on the environment.
