Author Gary Varner is proud to announce his new release, “The Great Hour Struck” (published by iUniverse), the personal crisis story of UCLA student Sam Henry, who is involuntarily thrust into the draft of WWII. While preparing to fall from the sky over Hitler’s Atlantic Wall as a Lieutenant paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division, Sam realizes that he is dealing with a crisis of his own. Not only is he fighting to keep himself and his fellow men alive, but he was also fighting to see his love, Maggie Elliott, once more.
“He ached for the one item he lacked for the jump - a picture of Maggie. In all their times together in London a simple photo had eluded him. A steak dinner he could explain away, but not a picture. He’d have to close his eyes to recall the honey-brown eyes and beautiful countenance he longed for.”
“The Great Hour Struck” is not only a real-life depiction of WWII, but is also a personal testament and examination into the minds and lives of the characters as they learn for themselves how to face a predicament head on. Varner invites all to read his story of life-altering events set in a time and place in our world’s history that is drawn upon every day for some of the most veritable examples of personal heroism and sacrifice. Find out for yourself if you will be ready to go to battle when your “great hour” strikes.
