Heidi L. Mosher Offers Heartening Words to Guide Readers in Moments of Self-Reflection

“The beauty of freedom, a privilege we all are given, must be nurtured, protected, and treated delicately,” writes Mosher in the foreword to “Freedom’s Beauty.” “I believe that as human beings, we are each responsible to act with humility because we possess the capability to portray an ethic of care for others. Through the human spirit, empathy is born. We have the capacity, even if it is buried deep within, to embrace, love, and forgive.”
Mosher hopes that her words will touch readers and encourage them to embrace their journey towards self-realization, utilizing spirituality as a guide. Each of her 32 poems nourishes an inner strength, urging the reader to take the time in their daily lives for self-reflection. These reflections hinge upon a determined study of her thought-provoking, poetic words and the accompanying illustrations that further expound upon her poems’ messages. This poignant sentiment is evident in poems such as “Untitled,” which is accompanied by a black and white photograph of a butterfly leaving its cocoon. She writes:
We must celebrate, embrace,
and rejoice in our accomplishments.
It is within each one of us to rise to the occasion,
grapple with new knowledge,
learn from our mistakes,
and emerge from the cocoon
a metamorphic wonder.
The luminous quality of “Freedom’s Beauty” will hearten readers in their journeys through life’s challenges, arming them with hope and the knowledge that hope is an eternal freedom that cannot be taken away. “Hope weaves its way throughout our lives and is a part of who we are as human beings,” writes Mosher. “Listen to your inner voice, find hope nestled there, and make a difference in your life and in the life of someone else.”
Heidi L. Mosher was born in Vermont into a large family, and she currently resides there with her husband. She has a master’s degree from the University of Vermont in the field of special education. “Freedom’s Beauty” is her first published book.
