Blue Ridge, Georgia, April 19, 2010 — Susan Shed, owner of Appalachian Realty LLC and in the real estate business in the North Georgia area for over 25 years said she has been receiving a lot of interest from people in Florida. It appears that Floridians squeezed by rising property taxes, homeowners insurance rates, crowded roads and schools are moving from Florida, which for a long time has been one of America’s favorite states to move to. Of course Florida remains a strong lure, particularly for retirees, but evidence may be mounting that the migration boom it experienced in the first half of the decade is over.

So why North Georgia? Well, if you have been there then you already know the answer to that question. If you have not then it is suggested by many that you at least pass through. The list of why would be too long to print here. Suffice it to say… it’s simply beautiful and the people are genuinely nice. Many people that have always wanted that dream cabin in the mountains are taking advantage of the economic situation to actually live out that dream. “Now is the time to do it” According to Susan… “Mortgage rates are still down and so are home and land prices. They are the lowest we have seen in nearly 10 years and the number of foreclosures on the market are high. Although there are a great number of foreclosures, there are many wise investors out there who are looking to take advantage of the market and sales of really good deals are brisk”. Susan went on to say that “if you act now you could save even more with the up to $8000 first time home buyer tax credit which is scheduled to end on April 30, 2010. If you get it under contract by April 30th you will have until the end of June of this year to close on the transaction in order to qualify for the tax credit”.
