Lifting As We Climb Foundation Laces Up for a Super Bowl XLIV Run With NFL Pro

On the heels of BigSpot.com sponsorship announcement, LAWCF is selected as official charity partner of Super Bowl Player Networking EventTM

Washington, DC, February 5, 2010 — Muscling forward to score yet another touchdown for underprivileged kids, the Lifting As We Climb Foundation (LAWCF) plans to unveil a game-changing partnership at Super Bowl XLIV. The non-profit organization, which works to improve the lives of less fortunate youth, will kick off the Antwaan Randle El Sound Mind, Sound Body Football Academy - a boost to one of its most-established programs.

Though LAWCF spearheaded the Sound Mind, Sound Body Football Academy back in 2004, the addition of a popular NFL player comes as an advantage to garnering future support. Each year, the organization aims to motivate a growing number of kids. Randle El’s name and backing deliver just that much more clout to accomplish this mission.

Still, the gridiron guru joins a LAWCF team that’s no stranger to victory. Randle El - a Washington Redskins wide receiver - enters the academy’s huddle after the charity had already wrapped up a much-applauded drive.

Since its inception, this particular LAWCF initiative has helped males ages 13 to 18 build self-esteem through athletics. It represents one of the largest and only overnight institutions for “at-risk” kids that actually incorporate pro athletes, college coaches and academic advisors. To date, 85 percent of the students participating in the academy have graduated from high school and entered college. Moreover, the program has expanded from an initial group of approximately 200 kids in one region to more than 3,800 students in more than five major cities.

Now, Randle El - along with American Idol phenomenon Jordin Sparks, LAWCF representatives and Troupe21 Inc. - look to usher in the next-gen academy during the Super Bowl Player Networking Event.

The celebration takes place from 2 to 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Hyatt Regency in Miami. There, LAWCF - selected as only one of a few official charity partners for the big game - will work with its newest teammates to promote the academy’s fresh look.

Support from big names doesn’t end with Randle El and Sparks. In January, BigSpot.com - an Offerwise company with a national presence - announced a major sponsorship of LAWCF, providing crucial funding for the academy to ramp up operations. Prior to that, The Washington Post, the Michigan Chronicle, Scout.com and ESPN RISE magazine touted the football academy as one of the best programs in the country educating kids on life skills and physical wellbeing.

Takes place on Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency in Miami - James L. Knight Center - Riverfront Central Ballroom, 400 S.E. 2nd Avenue, Miami, Fla. The Player Networking Event^TM (PNE) is an official NFL sanctioned Super Bowl event geared toward current and former NFL players and their corporate partners (http://www.troupe21.com).
