Divided into three parts, “A Real Life Christian Spiritual Journey” seeks to rehabilitate Christians’ distorted, self-destructive relationship with God and send a message that God loves humanity, every day, in real life, if we take the time to notice. Ferguson begins by describing the stages of spiritual, psychological, faith-based growth that everyone must experience from childhood until old age. From there, Ferguson uses real-life examples to illustrate how the good, the bad and the comical can coexist in a nurturing relationship with God.
Part two takes the spiritual journey one step further, examining other areas of life and how they can be enhanced by faith, including the experience of suffering and overcoming some of life’s innate roadblocks. Ferguson explores the interconnection between many world religions, alternative spiritual paths and scientific theory, uncovering the commonalities that unite them.
Part three is meant to be a message of hope. Ferguson recalls true stories of loss, life after death and the cycle of human experience. A firm believer that souls in heaven can and do communicate with their loved ones still on earth, Ferguson shares his own experience after his wife’s passing.
Combining real accounts of faith and spiritual evidence of God’s love with a discussion of contemporary religion, science and spirituality, “A Real Life Christian Spiritual Journey” articulates God’s unfailing love for his children. “We may do stupid things and we will suffer the consequences of our actions,” writes Ferguson. “But God will still love us and show us the way if we pray for His guidance.” Ideal for readers who are open to a more liberal theological viewpoint or anyone hoping to expand their spiritual horizons, “A Real Life Christian Spiritual Journey” will be a reassuring, inspiring read.
Richard Ferguson has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in philosophy and a master’s degree in business, theology and in pastoral ministry. Within the healing arts, he is also a Reiki master. He and his late wife had three children. “A Real Life Christian Spiritual Journey” is Ferguson’s first published book and he hopes to publish his second, “Did God Really Shut Up 2,000 Years Ago,” in 2010.
