Is another resveratrol application coming to light?
New York City, N.Y, June 25, 2010 — Two studies recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, investigated the effects of resveratrol in human fat cell biology and how it may offer protection and prevention of immature fat cells from developing. It also looked into how it can help activate a protein called sirtuin which helps the heart and other organs combat inflammation. The studies, using human fat cells, showed that resveratrol blocked the cells from growing and developing, which in turn, altered their ability to fully form. The Resveratrol was also found to stimulate the uptake of glucose which helped the molecules block the cells from engaging in fat conversion communication.
These findings indicate that the polyphenols in resveratrol could help to counter the effects of obesity and the effects associated with cardiovascular disease. This is a great opportunity to reduce the rising obesity level that is present in western society as there are currently over 1.6 billion people who are classed as overweight, and WHO (World Health Organisation) estimates that this will rise to over 2.3 billion in the next five years.
James Betz, founder and CEO of resveratrol bioceutical firm, Biotivia said: “These findings are very encouraging and highlight the astonishing range of potential health effects from supplementation with Resveratrol. More and more human clinical trials are being published in major scientific and medical journals which confirm the health benefits of resveratrol in humans. What is so interesting is that one small molecule can exhibit such a wide range of beneficial effects with no indication of adverse effects even at doses as high as several grams per day.”
Resveratrol is a member of a group of plant compounds called phytoalexins. These compounds have potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, protecting the body against the kind of damage linked to increased risk for age related illnesses and heart disease.
Because resveratrol has been demonstrated to have so many health benefits, it’s not surprising that a number of manufacturers are developing products containing this health inspiring molecule.
Betz continues: “After 18 years of developing resveratrol based supplements, we are at the forefront of this market, with a range of products that have the highest potency and efficacy. Our product range has consistently come out top in independent tests with Consumer Labs verification and succeeded where so many other resveratrol suppliers have failed.”
