North Hollywood, California, June 16, 2010 — North Hollywood, CA. After making some adjustments, I am finally living on my own and working towards my master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. I decided to help people suffering the way I did. I truly believe the only reason I am alive is because of the support of my family, friends and my will to help others. Finding TruthAboutGardasil.orghttp://truthaboutgardasil.org helped me understand I am not alone and not the only victim of Gardasil.

My name is Courtney. I had the first shot on Dec. 17, 2007. My mom is a cancer survivor and I was 22 and sexually active. Preventing cervical cancer sounded great. On Dec. 27th I became ill. I was throwing up and had an excruciating headache. The following morning, I went to a walk-in clinic and was told I had a migraine and a urinary tract infection and sent home.

After 10 hours of not moving from bed (not even to go to the bathroom), I began throwing up again. My mom decided I was dehydrated and drove me to the ER. Within 5 hours, I had fallen into a coma that lasted 9 days and then spent 14 days on a ventilator. After 10 days of testing, the doctor’s determined Gardasil had caused acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM). I had lesions on almost every level of my brain. It took 1000 milligrams of steroids to revive me from the coma. When I woke up I was unable to move my legs and my short term memory was not functioning. After 18 days in ICU, I was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. I had to relearn how to walk, write, and swallow. After 28 days I went home with a walker.

It took 10 months of agonizing doctor’s appointments where I was told I would never fully recover and spend the rest of my life on drugs. I lost all independence and relied fully on my parents. I finally went to the MAYO clinic and went through a three-week pain rehabilitation program. I was able to get off of eight major medications including fentanyl (narcotic analgesic), Percocet (narcotic pain reliever), lorazapam (anti-anxiety) and Neurontin (epilepsy). I was taught cognitive-behavioral therapy to cope with chronic pain.

Today I am much better, but still suffer from side effects. My ring and pinky fingers on both hands and my feet are completely numb. My eye sight has changed close to 30 times since the coma. It has gotten worse, then better and now I need reading glasses for double vision. Finally, at 25, I suffer from what doctor’s call a “neurogenic (spastic) bladder.” I have no control over my bladder and have been forced to take daily medications.

If the FDA, the AMA, and the CDC are not going to ask what is wrong with these girls- then TruthAboutGardasil.org will – and keep asking until the family’s of these injured girls have the answers, medical attention and vaccine injury compensation they deserve.
